Anyone know how to rmove the lock assembly from the column. I have removed the stalks and the two screws that clamp the unit to the column. Seems somethig internal is holding it as it is loose but won't come off column. Does the shaft have to come out? Thanks for any help.

You have to drill a hole to press the spring that keeps the lock cylinder is in place. after that, you press the spring, turn the key all the way to the right and pull play with it then move the key the other way and it will come out.. after that is out, you need to move the mechanism on the inside all the way to the right to get the assembly off the column.. heres a write up with pics

now i always thought most locks you just turn to accessory and pull thats most of the locks i've seen but i guess those were american

why are you removing it? if it is because of the ignition switch do like me, if you dont think it is rice, get an ignited start button.
