I just did this on my mk4 jetta awhile ago, so I figured the same idea would apply. It took me less than 20 mins to do. Since I had the soldering iron out for the independent fog light mod I figured I would give this a shot.
Well here goes..
You need:
6" of copper wire max...you'll use about 2" of it.
Soldering iron
Soldering wire (soft lead wire)
wire stripping device (scisors work great)
I used a test light to check which metal strips to tap, I did that part for you so you shouldn't need one.
I had extra fuses cause I blew 3 when I taped the wrong strips first..You shouldn't need any http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
So take out your bulb holders, pass. side is cake. Driver side is too, just open the cubby hole, take out jack box, reach back.
Then you solder a wire from the 2nd to last outside to the 2nd to the inside on the passenger side holder like this:
Then do the driver side, but the strips you solder are different as shown in pic:
Not like this: you'll blow fuses and stuff
But like this:
Hook em back up, test for functionality:
Bing!! Brake light City!!
