On the 11th of February Speedvision gets taken over by Fox Sports, I read a blurb in this months Grassroots Motorsports magazine that said the schedule would be "from 3PM to Midnight all NASCAR" . friggin great!!!

I love Speedvision! We don't get it in the dorms here

, so I watched it for the whole weekend straight when I was home. I hate NASCAR with a passion. I respect the drivers' skill and all, but I hate watching it. It's so boring! What a waste of fuel and rubber.

I was watching speed vision the other day and they may not buy the F1 rights for 2002. I guess it won't fit the new NASCAR format, and I'm sure the WRC is out the window too.
Maybe they should call the new channel TNN2.

What, races that start at 7am due to time difference wouldn't fit the 3p-12a NASCAR format?
And on what do you base this "WRC is out the window" statement?

I think that we are jumping to a conclusion. As it stands, they have already said that the best coverage of WRC they have ever had will continue all year. They will cover all the endurance races flag to flag. They will have FIM Superbike and GP, and are trying hard for Formula 1 (if not already secured). All the shows that we love now we will still get, they have elimitated the name NASCAR channel that they were going to use, and what are they gonna cut out, all the infomercials, Ship Shape TV, popular boating, etc. That is ok with me.
I hate NASCAR, but I dont think we are going to miss too much. You may not be able to find something that you want on at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night, but I hardly ever watched it then anyway. Besides it isnt set in stone, because they will still have the same day coverage of WRC, which means Thursday and Friday nights they will have that.
Lets give them a chance, I think they have gotten enough flak that they have listened. We'll see. I hope that they live up to what they are saying.

...sure it'll suck somewhat, but most of the daytime shows during the week sucked anyhow. does anyone care about shipshape? at least with nascar we will get to see some highlights--something remotely exciting. and all the other racing will still be there, so i really don't know what you're all whining about. i know it's a surprise, but a petition with all of a few thousand sigs means nothing when there are tens of millions of nascar viewers.

I heard a radio commercial today (yes radio) that said that speed channel was the exclusive home for among other things formula 1. I was psyched. hope it wasn't a lie.

At the end Speedvision's coverage of the Sweedish Rally they advertised the times they'll show the next WRC rally, and they are the same times they're currently showing them, 11PM. The next rally will be shown starting Thursday, March 7th, so this already seems to be a break from the 3PM-midnight all NASCAR schedule. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

After all the bitchin' and whinin', it looks very much like Speedvision is going to continue as the Speed Channel with basically minimal change ... they can replace the Bowflex commercials with NASCAR stuff and it won't bother me.
A lot of the weekly shows are already saying "... on Speed Channel". Motorweek did that last week. So did Bike Week. That's a fairly good indication that these shows will continue. The new WRC coverage is awesome, and that will continue.
It would not surprise me if the vocal outcry from enthusiasts over the last few months had a lot to do with this.

HEY, Speedvision was my only home for the fast paced world of lawn mower, and mud bog racing since ESPN2 cut all of that.

I actually like to see absurd stuff like that sometimes.

Speed vision has been great over the past few weeks with all the major racing series being off season. Ive seen more WRC and BTCC than ever! If the speed channel turns into some 24 hour nascar station im going to firebomb the headquarters..hehe no not really.
