I'm on the "list" for an evo7 but the Focus SVT is tempting.........

I have a tentative 3rd position at my local Mitsu agent for an evo7 if and when it arrives. Probably not worth the paper it's written on but who cares..... I swung by the Ford dealer yesterday (never thought I'd say that in this lifetime, lol) and inquired about the SVT Focus. 170hp, 6-speed manual, 17" wheels etc. Here is one thing I didn't glean from all the magazine reviews and din't notice until I studued the spec sheet closely: anyone notice that this thing has twin output shafts? 3rd and 4th get there own final drive for lusty acceleration in those gears. The 0-60 time is a bit disappointing due to the tall final drive in 1st and 2nd (ok, and lack of torque) but real-world driving should be sweet since most of my aggressive back road driving would be in 3rd and 4th anyway.
Only 3 options: high-zoot stereo, power sunroof and winter package and 4 colors: red, black, silver and blue. I think if one could be had a shade under MSRP, I'll go for it. It sure is a great time to be an auto enthusiast, there are so many choices out there nowadays. Carry on.........

While I would rather have a evo7 I have no idea what the cost will be. I have read 30k, perhaps more with a markup! Perhaps a bit under. I have read 250hp, will it have the Recaros? will it have the Brembos? Will it be an EVO?
I will wait and see. It better have the full looks pkg because those regular lancers are ugly!
Ok now thats the only down side that I can think of to a North American Evo.
The Focus will be a great car, and I am sure a month or two out you will be able to get one under MSRP, I sure did on my SVT tour! Its no where near the EVO in performance, but just for fun hit the RS Focus site and have a look at just how close a FWD Focus with 217hp can be to a evo 7!

They are only making 7,500 Foci correct?
I'd think they would sell like hotcakes on crack. I doubt there would be any sales below MSRP, at least in the 1st few months.
Although you said you got your SVT contour under msrp, it wasnt as hyped as the Focus is.
Oh, and how many SVT contours did Ford end up making? like 15k total?

They made 11,445 SVT Contours over the 3 model years. And I agree with you, the SVT Focus will not sit on dealer lots for long, especially with the production getting dropped to around 5500.
