(07 GLI HID's + fogs) Mine work when pulling towards me as long as i haven't turned the headlight switch on with the parking brake off or on. I don't have auto lights so I have to turn the round knob at night to get my rear lights to come on.

Perhaps the "feature" is meant for cars without DRL?

Unless you VAG-COM the car to get the FTP lights to come on with your high beams.
