Finally got some free time to install my Neuspeed 28mm rear. Holy cow! Going from stock suspension to that was very impressive. I put it on the middle setting and the body roll was reduced a great deal! Easy to install too...I highly recommend it. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Yeah, but take it easy on wet roads until you get used to it!

My brother told me the same thing. does the swaybar make the car more prone to spin around. It kinda felt that way when I put it in on Sunday and was test driving it. I got the 25mm and it makes a huge difference.

Yeah, but it's much more significant with the 28mm bar.

I've heard bad things about installing a sway bar. I've heard that if you put the front on it will understeer (push the front) much more and a rear will give you way oversteer (which could lead to a spin) in the wet. I don't man, be careful.

That's why you try to match the sizes. I have a 22mm front H&R sway, and a 25mm rear neuspeed sway on the stiffest setting. IMO, 23mm front (stock) and a 28mm rear is too much. You want neutral handling that is predictable, not a car that might spin in the rain because the back slides out.

Hey, guys, the 25mm bar is safe and fine for most people, but the 28mm isn't THAT bad. I've had both. I like the 28mm bar because i was maxed out on the 25mm bar and wanted a little more stiffness. the 28mm bar give me that. you just need to be careful.
As far as adding a bar at all, it definitely is a much needed improvement. you're not going to spin out if you drive carefully in bad weather, like you should be.

My set up right now is 0mm front bar and 28mm rear bar. The back is more prone to stepping out but it still very controlled. I love this setup.

there is nothing wrong with under or oversteer if it is calculated and you are used to it...some cars traditionally under or oversteer...although for most racing cases I would guess that neutral steering is prefered. So many things are taken into consideration: weight ratio between corners of the car, spring rates, tie bars, bar sizing, when and how you brake or accelerate and at what point of the turn.
Take some time and learn what you like best.
I personally have the 25mmfront bar and 28mm rear with the front upper and lower tie bars and a rear upper tie bar. I have race springs and bilstein sport shocks. VWMS strut caps help also. Better bushings would help although I don't know how much. I don't begin to claim that my setup is good or bad or right for anyone else but it is what I like for now.....

Just don't get bad wet tires and brake at the apex of your turn in the wet...then you are for sure going to throw the back out.....although having the back come around is not necessarily bad unless you can't feel it and pull it straight with some acceleration and you go into a spin.

for normal driving on the new cars it may be more than 50% cosmetic...but honestly the way I drvie the car I need all the body rigidity I can get.....One of the great benefits of a roll cage in a race car. Plus my attitude is that if I beef up the sway bars big time then I need to even out everything else...
strut bars are cheap though....

My old Rabbit GTi gave bags of drop-throttle oversteer, scary at first but loads of fun later, that was also a 1700lb car! A rear sway bar just livens things up a bit, the best drivers cars in the world all give up a little safety for some communication through the back end. You need to be on ball that's all
! Have fun, don't go sliding backwards through a row of hedges like I did in an M Roadster!

Geez... a stock size front sway and 28mm rear size is perfectly safe for the street. If your scared of spinning out by upgrading the size of the rear sway bar then I suggest attending some sort of performance driving school to learn the basics of car control.

Re: Installed sway bar, holy cow! (geofftii2002)

i installed my neuspeed 28mm rear on stock suspension last tuesday (on the middle setting) and wednesday went on vacation, driving through monsoon like conditions, heavy rain standing puddles that set off my traction control, waves flying over me from other vehicles and then hitting some ice/snow on the way back, I never once felt insecure or that my 'butt was sliding out' so I'm very happy, keeping in mind that this was windy roads at around 80-90mph, and I say dont worry our cars understeer so much stock that even the 28mm doesnt seem to bad (this is middle setting at least)
also I have an evo motorsports intake, and no muck got on it, no water got up into my engine even when i drove through puddles and such, so I feel that (for me at least) 2 water based 'myths' are proved wrong for me!
