Installing Oil Temp Gauge

If anyone has ever done this how did they get the bolt out of the flange. I am talking about the blot that you can remove and screw the temp sensor into its spot. It seems like a very tight squeeze and the only easy way to get to it would be to remove the intake manifold, but I really don't want to get into that. Any thoughts?

the #10 bolt is a 5.5mm alan. you can barely fit your hand in there, but its do-able. once the alan key sits in there u dont have to worry about keeping it in place, so that was a nice thing. But u do need quite a force to push it loose though.maybe a little wd40 spray b4 would help.
fitting in the temp sensor is more difficult. i suggest u buy a angled, flex head, closed wrench that u could just tighten by just swaying it without taking it out. If I knew about this, that would have made it 1000x easier. U dont have much room to sway but again its still doable. Its a PITA DIY project imo. IM me if u need further help. and remember to buy a silicon sensor safe sealant so u dont have to ever go back and take that PITA out.

I had to have my oil flange taken out...that way you can do the oil temp and pressure at the same time and not risk stripping anything. Trust me, you DON'T want to strip that flange cause it cost 180 dollars to replace AND you won't be able to get the stock screw back into place which means you CAN NOT drive your car without oil coming out. You will have to get it towed to a shop and get it retapped!

Alright not to be rude but dont listen to anyone. I tried nearly everything that they are saying and it was a ----- to get it off. Then I got two long extensions for my wrench put them together and just got the allen bolt off by coming from above the manafold all in about 15 sec. This was after trying for about 45 min of just trying to fit a small wrench under the manafold.
I hope we are taking about the same bolt!

Yeah, it's a 5.5 mm allen wrench...I thought it was a 5 mm and stripped the bolt...now it's useless, can't get it out. Like others said, use a 12 or longer extension and get at it from between your intake runners...from the top side. You'll have to take your engine cover off and use a flashlight, but I believe you'll find it in the 2nd or 3rd opening from the right most intake runner. Good luck.

Dogeater is right. it may be easier to get a very long extension and go from the top. my extender wasn't long enough and I didn't feel like paying another $15 from sears just for this project. Plus when I look down from the manifold gaps, it didnt' seem dead on straight.
Anyway, if u do want to go on that route, here is a tip for you. There is a grey connector in the way of the extender to the #10 bolt. What u do is to remove the black bracket holding the gray connector.(The grey connector is a PITA to get off.. getting the whole bracket out is easier). Its only a 10mm Hex bolt on the left side to get it out.
