my friend is wanting to install a Autometer shift light in his 03 GTI. we have it mounted in the car but we have not been able to locate the wire to tap into for the light to read the rpm's. does anyone know where the wire is located or how we could get this installed? thanks!!

i know you have to pull out the cluster.. i bet if you search the topic you'll find it..

i tried to searching for "Shift Ligth" and i didnt get anythign.?

if all you need is to find is the rpm signal wire than also search the turbo timer installs.. some of them also have to tap into the rpm wire..

I think the speed/rpm hook up would be the same thing...the following was done for my turbo timer
blue connector on back of gauge cluster, green wire that goes to the pin #28

What type of signal does it emit? I want to make a LED shift light like the F1 cars have on the top of a steering wheel.
