Can I run synthetic right from the start or will this screw things up. Also, I've been running synthetic for the last year in my engine, will this screw anything up when if I have to switch to normal oil for a little while for the charger break in period? Thanks.

Re: Installing the Lysholm, real quick question--- (Weaver)

the instructions BBM includes say to break the lysholm in using normal oil, and then switch to synthetic after the break in period or your next oil change.
not sure if breaking in the lysholm with synthetic would make much of a difference....

Hmmm, yeah, no directions were sent with mine, just a reciept
. Also heard someone once say that if an engine is used to synthetic, and then you switch to normal that it can cause some damage. Any truth in this?

You should use regular oil to brake it in! You got your charger in the mail? Putting other oil in wont hurt your car!Who told you that?

No comment! Well, I believe I've got all of the information needed out of this thread, thanks guys. Any ideas on what grade of normal oil I should use?
What a sweet weekend this is turning out to be, Lysholm AND 6 speed installed on the same day

Since you didn't get any instructions, you should also know the break in period. Keep it under 5000 rpm for the first 500 miles, no full throttle or full boost until engine warms up (about 180*). If you have any questions ask.

Oh wow! So once the engines warm I can give it full throttle just as long as I keep it under 5000rpms for the break in period? Sorry for the monotonous questions but I don't want to screw (no pun intended) this thing up

Waever its only a 500 mile break in..I seriously doubt that 500 miles f Dino oil will hurt your motor..

Re: Installing the Lysholm, real quick question--- (Weaver)

This is straight from the install instructions:
quote:

(Break in Procedure)
1. DO NOT operate the engine without the proper air filter installed. DO NOT block the screw compressor intake even momentarily when the engine is running.
2. Always allow the engine to warm up to full operating temperature completely before applying full throttle. Always verify the water temperature and MFA for engine oil temperature before applying full throttle or full boost.
Maintain engine speeds below 5500 rpm for the first 500 miles of driving. Regularly change your oil and filter at required intervals.

Do you know how to do the install? If I had a scanner or digicam I'd send you a copy. Maybe someone else could do that for you.

WOO HOO! That's not too bad a RPM figure to keep it under at all! I thought it was like 3000 or somethin'. As far as the install goes, I'm figuring it out allright. This guy pretty much bolts right up; it's workin' out fine

Just keep using what you were using oil wise, just as some break in oil.
Don't laugh, there is such a thing, I just don't know the name of it. Most engine rebuilders will stock it probably.
