Installing VDO Gauges (Oil pressure/temp) on a 2000 Jetta VR6

Is there another way of installing these gauges, Oil Temp/Oil Pressure, without disassembly of the front end to get to the oil filter? Remember now, we are talking about a VR6 here. I know the installation on a 2.0/1.8T is easy. Thanks for your help.

I have them on a 2.0 and the install was pretty simple, though i did have to take out alot of crap to get to the oil filter flange. Is it impossible to get to the vr6 filter flange?
Re: Installing VDO Gauges (2kjettaguy)

Well, looking at the VR6 engine, there is really no room. I was told that the front end must be removed..that means the grill, bumper, radiator.
Re: Installing VDO Gauges (RodG)

can you get to it from the bottom?
Re: Installing VDO Gauges (2kjettaguy)

I don't think there is a way to get it from the bottom. I think my only option is to dismantle the front end. Can anybody give me the order of dismantling the front end?
1. Grill
2. Bumper
3. ?
4. ?
5 ?

Try this web page:
http://www.gti-vr6.net/library/engine/installing_oil_pressure_sender.html
There is a lot of helpful information on this website.
If it asks, the user name is "driver" and the password is "hired." (And no, I'm not sharing state secrets; the website will provide you with this information if you forget to key it in.)
