I bought my Rocco awhile ago with the engine toasted, instead of rebuilding I got a 93 TD engine and put that in. Now that the project is nearing completion I went to the insurance company and they said insurance is either $4000.00 because it is a non standard car, or find proof that VW could have infact made this in the factory. The car itself didn't have to be, but just that vw had at some point made a diesel Scirocco, if I can somehow convince them it's not unique the insurance drops down to about $1700.00!!!!!

As far as I know they never did exist but if anyone has anything that I can try and use to show a diesel Scirocco had been factory produced once, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Why did you tell the insurance agent that it's had an engine conversion??? Are you trying to insured the car for the increased value that the engine swap cost you? If not, just go to another agent and don't tell them you did the engine swap.

you won't save any money by telling the insurance you installed a slower less powerful engine. But the insurance thinks your is unsafe because the swap was done by you. go to another agent

its still a 4cyl, it shouldnt effect your insurance one bit.

I didn't have to tell them tha tthe engine was swapped, but unless I did, if they notice the difference if there was ever an accident the policy would be void.
Also the company doesn't care who did the swap, didn't say it was us, they just car that it was never produced at the factory with a diesel.

Show them Drew MacPhereson's turbo deisel Rocc... One look, and they'll be convinced that VW made one from the factory.

time to go into the local insurance agents office, sit down and get new insurance with another company.

it might take some time to find the best agent that will work for you. I know it took me long time to find mine, but I love her long time..doesnt hurt she be a hotty also..

Most insurance companies are so stoopid, they wouldn't notice whether you had a VR6 or a 3 cylinder Sprint engine between the fenders.
When I had my 83 Rocco with the stock 1.7l, my old insurance company wanted $3000 a year. They said it was a "high performance sports car"

That was when I said Goodbye!
