Borgwarner Turbo Systems introduces new performance series for U.S. market
DATELINE: Asheville, NC
BODY:
At last, American auto enthusiasts can finally bolt on the turbo technology behind street legends like the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Audi TT.
Officials at BorgWarner Turbo Systems (BW TS) recently made a much-anticipated announcement regarding plans for the US introduction of an aftermarket turbo series called Rockkit. The BW TS Rockkit line will be the first to include both high-performance exhaust and mechanical engine boosting options. Increased consumer interest in high-quality aftermarket turbo upgrades and retrofits prompted BW TS, a global leader in forced-air technology to introduce the new line. The offering will include a broad selection of specifically chosen K and S series turbos to meet a wide array of high-performance engine requirements. Chicago-based BorgWarner (NYSE: BWA) is a product leader in highly engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications worldwide. The company operates manufacturing and technical facilities in 51 locations in 14 countries. Customers include Ford, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Navistar International, PSA and VW Group. The Internet address for BorgWarner is

"Consumers are becoming much more sophisticated and they're demanding the same enhancements that boost today's hottest sports cars," said BW TS executive David K. Keiner. Designed to fit a variety of vehicles from Fords and Mitsubishis to Hondas, Mazdas and VWs the Rockkit is generating excitement among drivers and installers alike. BorgWarner executives fueled that excitement further with confirmation that the Rockkit line will feature Air Boost On Demand (ABOD), the latest in high-performance mechanical boosting solutions. "Until now, the American consumers had a narrower selection of performance boosting devices to choose from," Keiner concluded.
"The Rockkit changes all that."
The bulk of the product offering will be ready for sale in North America in January 2002.
