Yep, you read that right! Traded in our 4 month old 2013 Passat TDI SEL Premium for a 2014 Golf TDI Manual!
You may remember I had done a similar thread when we bought our 2010 Golf TDI too, so here's the new version for our 2014 Golf TDI Manual!

The car is a 2014 4 door Golf TDI with 6 speed manual transmission, in Candy White with Titan Black cloth interior, and the only options are the TDI rubber mat kit (with trunk mat and cargo block) and the VW first aid kit.
Just like my 2010, I bought this car with tucci, I've bought pretty much all my cars from him or mreuro lol
I will be using this thread for pictures, mods, updates and just random notes about the car, so check back, and check back often, because this thread will be my main thread for everything about this car!
Enjoy !!!

Miscellaneous notes and comments:

* 21 November 2013: As I was searching the inventory for a friend, I noticed they had a Candy White 4 door manual Golf TDI in stock ... wheels started turning in my head. Got in touch with tucci and the rest is history.

* 23 November 2013: Picked up the car today, they had a driver (David) drive the car down to me from Atlanta GA to Gainesville FL so I wouldn't have to drive all the way up there. It's nice to be back in a Golf TDI, and a Candy White one at that!

* 19 December 2013: Registered with the state of Florida, transferred my TDI plate.

Good to see you back.

Did you get bored with the Passat? I probably would have waited for the MkVII at this point...

Yes somewhat, and the lower payment amount and less payments to make on the Golf was also good. I wanted to make sure I got a MK6 before the MK7 comes out actually ;)

Nice! I was told by the dealer that VW stopped making the MK6 TDI already (so no MY2014). Guess they are wrong lol. I looked at the VW website and they do have 2014 Golf's, TDI included. However, looks like Tech package is no longer offered.

Great to see you back! Did you take the mods of the 2010? None of my business, but.... hoping you don't have to repurchase some of same parts for the new one!

Nice TDI!

It's my understanding that the 2014 TDI's were already made, at the tail end of the 2013 production run. Basically, what you are buying is the last of their remaining stock. Once those are gone, the 2015's will start trickling in.

I just purchased a 2013 TDI. Glad to see that the 2014 is exactly the same. I was worried there would be a lighting difference or interior tweak.

I'm with you on wanting a MK6, instead of a MK7. I personally like the look of the MK6 more. And I wanted to own a German built Golf. Something about buying the first year production run of a MK7, manufactured in a new facility in Mexico didn't seem as appealing to me as an end of the production run German MK6. I didn't want to deal with any teething issues on my first new car.

Just curious, but what made you get rid of the Passat?
Well, money (it's lower payments and less total payments) but also the Golf gets better mileage with the manual transmission, and it's also more fun to drive :)

Thanks, and my thoughts exactly on the MK7 lol, same reason I wanted a MK6!

welcome back sir
Thanks

So I decided I didn't want to use a fuse tap, so I just added four 12V circuits to my fuse box using these great DIYs:
http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62584
http://www.my-gti.com/601/

Wired the Valentine One to one of the switched 12V+ sources, works perfect!

I also added the OEM LED license plate lights, I still don't know why they are much cheaper at a Porsche dealer than a Volkswagen dealer lol, same part, VW logo and all!
Here are some good threads for more info (all I had to do on my 2014 is check "License Plate Light w/o Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) [LED Light]"):

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5807287-VCDS-Coding-for-LED-License-Plate-Lights

More mods to come soon :)

I might have missed something; but do you still have your Shark Blue Golf TDI? Between your car and Quailstar's, I liked what you both did so much I purchased my own SB TDI. I've spent a fortune making it mine, but it's an absolutely wonderful car!
