does anyone else radio when they play there ipod make an annoying high piched sound in the background, even with the ipod unplug but the cable still plugged in it make the noise, should i take the wire back to car toys or is that just how it is?

i have my ipod plugged into the auilary jack and it does make a high pitched sound.

Myself included. Using a stereo cable to the the iPod from the Aux I get a high pitched sound. I've lowered the volume on the iPod and can still hear it.

you may need a better quality insulated cable. also check that the jack is all the way in on both ipod's and glovebox.

you all are having this same problem? wow, I use mine all the time and have never heard any sort of distortion what-so-ever. I got my cable at radio shack and i'm using a 30 gb video i-pod. what are you all using?

mine sounds OK - no high pitch whine. is your iPod plugged into a 12V power source to charge ? if it is, try unplugging it and see if the noise goes away.

I got mine at radio shack too, using a 5th gen video iPod. Hmm, I wonder if it might be the speed increasing sound feature. I'll have to check that out.

I could hear a high pitched whine coming from mine that increased with the speed of my car. A ground loop isolator from radioshack cleared up all interference . The sound is perfectly clean now http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://www.radioshack.com/prod...earch

I had this exact problem with my iPod through the aux in jack in the glovebox. The noise was still there even with a higher quality shielded audio cable.
Then I found that when I have the iPod plugged into a car charger at the same time, the noise is gone. I think it is a problem with different ground levels between the iPod battery and car battery that causes the distortion.
Whenever I plug my iPod into the car charger now, the noise is gone- I think because they are then both on the same ground (theoretically doing the exact same thing as a ground loop isolator, and charging my iPod at the same time )

I hooked it up between the mini jack and my ipod. You'll have to get mini-jack to rca adapters.

I had a high pitched whine until I realized I had the volume on the iPod itself too loud. I had to adjust the volume of the radio and the volume of the iPod to get a clean sound.
