is camber correction required when lowering from stock?

does lowering ones car ruin the camber, causing the wheels to bald much quicker?
i know this is true of hondas but what about an mk IV Gti?

No fancy systems on our MKIV's. Drop em and ya better align them.

I don't think camber is adjustable on the Mk4. But it will change the toe which will cause increased tire wear and other handling problems.
