Is it ok to not go to a car wash for a loooong time in the winter?

ok, i would prefer to hand wash my car 100% of the time. i just like spending time making it look pretty. but recently, i heard from my friend that u can't hand wash it all the time. he recommeneded me to go to a car wash, especially in the winter simply cos the car wash washes the bottom part of the car. he said road salt is collected on the bottom and its acidic, probably causing corrosion. so is this true?
i just hate going to my local car wash cos it scraches my rims when it clumps onto it!

Never go thru a touchless car wash...go to a car wash that you can wash your car by hand. The one with the wand that shoots out high speed water.
