Over the weekend, I took apart the console and tightened the e-brake cable after I found that it was feeling a bit loose when pulling up on the brake. I tightened it quite a bit and now it is real tight, but feels good. My question is it possible to over-tighten the cable on the e-brake resulting in in snapping for wearing of rear brake pads? Thanks

Re: Is it possible to over-tighten the e-brake? (GTI2001)

if you put too much tension on it, it could be rubbing all the time. That would wear a lil till it stopped rubbing. While you were in there did you see any easy way to disable the ratcheting lock mechanism? I have an ice race coming up this weekend, and i dont want it to lock. Its too cold to take it apart right now. im thinking a lil strap, and a hose clamp if its a pita to disable. thanks

I think I am going to loosen up that bolt a little bit, I dont want rubbing and wearing on the rear pads. Thanks http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
