is it possible to run a G60 engine N/A for a few months til I get funds together?

I'm contemplating putting a G60T into a GTI/Golf...I want to do it right...but also need a car to drive...so I figured for the winter I could drive it NA...although it would be a slug..is this possible...the reason for leaving it NA is that I want to run it with SDS or TEC II and can't afford the turbo system and the stand alone at the same time....also this would be going in an 88 or 89 golf 8V....would it be worth my time to wait out for a 90 car with central electric...even though I'm running stand alone?..and the last question....can I use a 9A tranny that was just rebuilt..(with a 16V pressure plate all components have less than 2K on them)...or should I do the whole 02A tranny swap now...along with pedal cluster and all that good stuff? any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated...thanks..

yeah you can drive it, and you are right it will be a slug. thats what some G60 owners do when they are having their chargers rebuilt. you just have to bypass the whole setup.

could someone give me some info on bypassing the charger? and does anyone have the ups and downs of TEC 2 compared to SDS?

Ahh yes... The good ole G-Zero.
I bypassed mine and it was SLOW. But I did get much better gas mileage...

I know this sounds crazy, but you can use something as cheap as duct tape and clothes dryer ducting to bypass the charger...more for emergencies...but it can last a long time

if you are bypassing in a Golf it should be a little different as your I/C piping is different....or most likely non-existent for a while...just connect the air box outlet to the TB inlet....
you need the CO potentiometer hooked up as well....

Ok....I've looked into it more..and for the price...I think that I should just throw the digifant in...and I'm gonna turbo it now....in my mind I should be able to do it all for around 1500 ...can someone please answer these questions though..as these are my new concerns
1. ecu wise....do I need a special 1 depending on engine....and as for a chip for the digifant running turbo Garett?
2. do I need to convert to CE2? central electric like came on the 90-92 cars?
3. fuel pump....any fuel pump that is a 46.5mm pump should work correct?
4. bolting up an 020 to a G60 engine...my tranny is a 9A so I can go with same set up I have in my 16V right now...16V pressure plate, 8V clutch disk, and 16V flywheel correct? or do I use the G60 flywheel?

sorry for all the questions...but I'm trying to throw this together rather quickly...and I don't like to go into things blind....I know wiring is a rather non-fun thing to do...but I think it will be worth it in the end...any info anyone can give me is greatly appreciated

1.Must be a G60, thats all.
2.no
3.your stock pump is more than enough.
4.Your current clutch/fly, etc will bolt up just like your 16V
email me if you want any help with this. Did you find a harness/ECU yet?

Not pretty, but it worked just fine.
Duct Tape
Dryer Hose
PVC T-fitting

When my buddy's charger exploded, he just bypassed the IC, charger, and stripped out all the extra piping. The charger's still there, though.
And yes, I'm serious when I said that it exploded!
