Is my clutch gone?

When I try to put the car in second gear especially when downshifting you need to push the clutch to the floor and really use a good amount of strength for it to go in gear. What is going on?

Is tranny hard to shift in all gears or just one? If hard in all, then your clutch is not throwing out all the way, the self adjuster in the clutch cable may have crapped out. If its hard to shift into only one gear, then I'd look to shift linkage first. Lots of slop there? Replace shift linkage bushings/adjust linkage. If that doesn't help, might be synro on that gear is worn out (Too many speed shifts into second?), and you'll need a tranny rebuild to fix that.

Syncro wear will make shifting "notchier" as car ages. Try Redline synthetic trans oil if you haven't yet. Had a BMW that got real bad shifting when cold, Redline fixed it right up, even the wife didn't complain about shifting after the change. Did hear a bit more gear noise due to thinner oil though.
