I'll keep it clean.
Ive heard rumors that in some places (namely Texas and Tennessee) that some city's actually close a street and allow street racing. Is this true? Can you guys confirm?...Dubspeed Racing Gods? Where I am from (Birmingham, Alabama), street racing is really big...the usual Winter Saturday night is about 600 cars!!! Just wondering if this is true, and how it was allowed. Wonder if my congressman could help me?

I think its illegal everywhere in the US. Its not called "Street Racing" in the book, its called "Engaging in a Speed Contest". Its definitely illegal here in California, but that doesn't stop anyone.
I went down to San Diego races many times in High School (1994-1997) and there were typically about 400-500 cars or more. After Hot Import Nights a few weeks back there were probably 600 cars down there. Its big here and its been a part of the American youth since the 1950s. I don't think illegal street races will disappear anytime soon.

Sorry, The only pics/movies/stories Ive seen of street racing from here were newer VW's ... didnt want to limit it to 1.8T's or VR6's. AND obviously the title made you read the post.
