Does anyone know if the TDI is going to be available with the tiptronic or CVT in the near future? I plan on getting a new TDI with automatic this year, and am just wondering if I should wait. Because it would be the first (and last) brand new car I plan on buying. Or is VW just going to wait until the Mk5's to introduce the newer technology?

If you really need an auto, don't hesitate. You should buy now and not anticipate a CVT or tip trans in the future. There are no plans for it.

Even here in Germany, the CVT is not offered for any VW yet. You can have tiptronic, though. Also Audi offers the CVT on the A4 TDI.
