Is this a situation for the use of Clay?

When I wax my car it is super easy to apply polish/wax to the hood, fenders and all 4 doors. The problem areas on my car is the trunk and roof of my car. When I remove polish/wax, I see it smudge and unwilling to come off. When I rub my hand along the trunk, I can feel small bumps as fine as sand all over the place. Is this embedded dirt and can the clay bar help?

The best thing clay bars do is get rid of those "stuck sand" bits you can feel. Plus it shines the area's contaminated that you can't feel also.

Typically clay is used to remove "contaminants" such as sand bits, fallout, ect ect. While it doesn't hurt to use it needlessly, ANY friction that is not nessesary is our enemy. AND DONT BE STINGY WITH THE LUBRIACANT!!! Smuges are not for clay, for these situations use a good paint cleaner (p21s is my fav).

I used the clay bar on the lower portion of my car which had all that find sand feel to it as you said. I was amazed how smooth it felt afterward. I definitely recommend it, just use alot of lubricant in using the clay, I used Griot's speed shine..
