isv stops boost?

I am using G60 engine managment on my 16vT project. In my Corrado service manual it says that the isv actually works as a sort of wastegate. It alows boost over .80 bar to pass through it, efectively limiting boost. I am planning on running significantly more than .8 bar, what can I do? I have an isv from my 16v, would this work? Would an isv bypass or check valve do the trick?

You are correct in the ISV limiting boost the trick is to get an ISV reroute which basically puts boost PSI on both side of the ISV so that it won't be rerouted back to the charger

couldnt you just disconnect the isv all together?

ok if the ISV limits boost then how do i get 16 psi at my intake manifold. it must not do a very good job of releasing the excess boost. i understand the thoery that they leak over time (it is a valve) but i dont understand how you can say it bleeds off boost over 0.8bar (11psi) i know i have read this before but it doesnt make sense.

Naw man after pouring over the code for the longest time i see NOTHING that controls the ISV except the idle routine which is a basic on off on off based on rpm ranges..
The ISV is needed to get a nice 840 rpm idle, and help on those cold mornings when you need a 1200+ rpm idle to keep it chuggin, but otherwise, i've never seen any code (digi-1) to use it for anything else.

The reason you can read 16psi just like I read 20 psi is beacsue we have installed an the ISV reroute which puts the same pressure on both sides of the ISV and at the same time taken away the route for the boost to return to the charger. This was covered in the videos that are on Ebay. The reason some 68mm people donly get 14 psi is because the ISB is trying to dump all that excess psi back to the boost return pipe if they don't have a check valve or ISV reroute

Re: isv stops boost? (G60ING)

It does vent boost, it says so in the VW G60 training manuals the dealers got in germany. Also a german guy who makes chips says this is the case, and he has removed that feature on his chips, so you don't need a re-route with those.
It also makes sense, because it is to protect the engine from boost spikes etc.
The original boost pressure is only ~0.65bar, but the isv starts venting at 0.8, so it will never vent when original.
