There should be two plastic circle covers near the pinch welds behind them, you can pull those covers off and jack it up from there or just leave the covers on if you don’t care about damging the plastic (I leave them on) but it can still be tricky to fit a jack stand on the pinch weld with the jack being on the circle so position the jack as close to the wheel as you can do you can fit the stands

Can you take these covers off and just leave them off. Why are they even covered in the first place?I would of noticed it the first time and jacked it up from there.

That will let you lift from the factory jacking points more easily.

Alternatively, you can do something much cheaper and jack from the pinch weld using a hockey puck with a channel cut into it, or a prefabricated one like this: Universal Jack Pad Adapter

I usually put my jack stands underneath the control arms-there is a flat spot underneath them that works well.

Won't jacking from the control arms damage them?

 

I have never had a problem with resting the car on jack stands using the lower control arm near the castle nut

 

Do you know why the subframe is so far back on these cars? Just the design?

 

I use the ECS jack pads listed above. I like how it uses pad adapter and wont slip out from the jack.

 

I've got a pretty heavy duty jack that I use in the middle if the car(where the front and rear doors meet) I use a ECS universal jack pad adapter and lift on the pinch weld, then I put the jack stands at the factory jack points. This method allows me to get all 4 wheels off the ground by only having to jack the car up twice. Any descent 3 ton floor jack should be able to easily lift up half of the car at one time.

 

I bought all these on eBay and while they maybe aren’t as well fit as ECS tuning kit, I can use the factory jack points, or welds and project my welds from more damage than I’ve already done from about 400 jacks while working on my suspension and exhaust

I'm using the Rennstand jack stands, you can jack up the car and rest it on the pinch welds all in one shot. Granted they are pricey but they work great.
