I just bought a 2000 Jetta GLS and the only problems with it are that the trunk cargo net is ripped and that the rear cupholder jams if you close it all the way. Is there any way to fix this (the cupholder, i can figure out how to fix the net)?
now i see why they got rid of it for 2001...

The rear cup holder is the most worthless thing in the car. It doesnt work well at all. I would consider it a blessing that it is jammed shut. Just my .02

yeah, it is pretty worthless. mines got jammed, and i took the little red coinholder thing out and got to the cupholders from there...then did a whole lotta pushin..i say leave it be..nobody really uses them anyway..

there is a reason why VW removed the rear cupholder from the cars. It was removed mid 2001 model year.

I just stuck my leatherman tool with the flat blade in the slot next to the cup holder and pried it out. It poped the cup holder loose, and no it opens and closes fine. I did put a little bit of lithium grease on the track just to free it up a bit.

Mine got stuck in my car... the spring for one of the holders popped off and dug in to the plastic. so I took it in and got it replaced. believe it or not I actually use the rear cupholders.... for unopened cans of soda (water bottles fall out)
