Are there any screws holding the VW emblem on the rear of a Jetta IV - or is it secured with the usual double sided tape -

There are actually plastic rivits that go through the black plastic behind it and the ends are melted. To remove the chrome logo, you have to take out the locking mechanism and carefully cut away the backs of the rivits, pluse there are a few screws holding it on also.

The servo arm isn't difficult to disconnect, but just pay attention to where the threaded rod sits in relation ship to the connector.
I don't remember any rivets, I remember just unscrewing the halves.

I actually removed mine today just to see how to do it. i dont remember seeing any rivets just two phillips head screws that held the VW to the backing.

All you need is a screw driver.

There's 3 torx screws holding the lock mechanism on from the inside... there's two other screws holding the emblem on to the lock.

Yup, there's 3 little ones, one big one, and they all lie within an indent the size of the entire emblem... requires welding, sanding, and paint. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

i'm assuming it's just like the gti emblem as far as assembly (minus the keyhole) but i cut the rivets off w/ a pair of needle nose plyers and was able to pull it off. it held together alright when i reassembled it.. but adhesive might be a good idea (not superglue. it'd use some type of silicone sealant or locktite(sp))
