Ok so I just recently got my first car, a 1998 jetta 2.slow. I have been wanting a dub for awhile so this is a perfect first car. I want to do some stuff to it, however nothing too dramatic as I will probobly sell it after a little while and upgrade. I really want to lower it first off. Coilovers are out of the question. This narrows me down to just two options, a 60/40 cup kit or lowering springs? Lowering springs are muchhh cheaper...but I'm not sure if I can just simply put them on. Another reason i would rather get the springs is because getting a 60/40 cup kit would mean i would have to tak the mud flaps off. Although i dont really like the look of them the paint where they are mounted obviously has the outlines of them, so if i took them off my paint would look like **** http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Just go with a proper 60/40. You will be less than satisified with lowering springs on stock struts.

Those springs on stock struts and you will soon have blown struts. WHen lowering a car you need to update the struts as well. Just save up for the cupkit, it'll save you money in the long run.

Yeah i think i may have to nut up and go for a cup kit.
