Jetta MK6 A/C intermittently blowing cold

So I have a problem. 2012 Jetta TDI with 61k miles and since about 45k I've been having issues with my a.c.
The a/c takes a while to start cooling off and will get cool if you are at 55 or higher but if you are in bumper to bumper or come to a stop it starts blowing ambient air from outside. Here in south Louisiana it gets quite hot and it's miserable. The car always blew cold before about 45k. I have checked the fans and they do run when idling. Any help?

Software

My old 2012 had a similar issue, took 20 minutes to get going, and even then it sucked. I complained to my dealer and it turned out the software didn't install correctly. They re-programmed it and it was way better after. Mechanic said it shouldn't take more than a minute to get cold. Hope that helps!

Can't believe nobody has stated that the rcv valve is the most common problem in the MKVI AC system. It's located on the compressor and gets clogged and causes horribly intermittent cooling.

Just google rcv MKVI and you will have lots of complaints and info. The part is about 75 bucks and is apparently easy to replace, just have to evacuate the charge, replace, vacuum, and recharge.

So I used an inspection camera to check my compressor model. (Sanden pxe16) ordered a RCV from polarbear and installed it myself on monday. Vacuumed and filled up with refrigerant to r134a specs based on ambient temps. Wow does it blow cold! No more delay. Starts cooling within a few seconds of starting the car and blows ice cold all the time! Just like brand new again. The old valve was a little longer and had the solid head plunger type valve. You could see some tiny metal shavings clumped together on the screen of it. So much easier and cheaper than replacing everything. Total spent was about $120.

Had a 2013 Jetta and now my 2016 Jetta are doing the exact same thing. Usually only on non-recirculated air setting (ie. "outside air), the A/C compressor takes about 10 to 20 seconds too long to kick on during it's normal cycling; sometimes it doesn't blow as cold as it should.

Two different Jettas in the same generation.

My last car was a lease, so it's long gone, but I own the 2016 Jetta.

I'll definitely have the RVC valve replaced.

Would most A/C places know how to order the part of should I order it myself?
