Does anybody have a Jetta S and would like some info on a cruise control install? I just added cruise control to my Jetta S with oem parts and I still have the part numbers along with wiring diagram info and coding info.

I work at a VW dealer so I got the parts at cost but here is a list of parts you will need with our dealer list prices. The switch part number is 5C5 953 513F 9B9 and lists for $122.00. You also need 5 wire terminals part # 000 979 009E at $8.50 each. One wire terminal part # 000 979 030E at $24.30. One butt connector part #000 979 941 at $3.90. Six butt connectors part # 000 979 940 at $3.90 each. And approximatly 3 feet of bulk .5 mm wire part # 000 979 981 at $1.50 a foot. These are the VW OEM part numbers that I used to install cruise on my 2013 Jetta S.

Also I did the install myself so there was no labor cost. It took me about 4 hours to replace the switch and run all the wiring so if you were to have a dealer do it you would need to estimate about 4 hours labor at whatever the dealer rate is also.

I just picked up a 2012 Jetta S and am already missing cruise just a couple days in. Are those part numbers the same for the 2012 model?

Follow up question

I have seen photos of the turn signal stalk with CC on it, but the VW diagrams show a separate (3rd) stalk that appears to be located below the turn signal. Which is it?

Did you (or could you) take any pictures during the process?

Im sitting about the same, i'd be interested in seeing the diagram as well as pics of the install how it sits now. Nice job though, i was seriously thinking about doing this as well. Now if i can just figure out how to wire in the audio controls from the steering wheel and get the cruise wired in there.

I did not take any pictures while I was doing the install only because I was trying to get it done as fast as I could. I can't get the wiring diagram on here but I can tell you where the wires need to be installed. Also all the pins at the connectors where the terminals need to be installed were empty so I just simply installed the terminals (but there was a fake terminal plug in the ecm connector that needed to be removed before installing the terminal). Pin 3 at the cruise switch connector goes to pin 47 at the body control module (J519) connector 73b. There are 2 connectors at J519, connector 73b is white and on the left when sitting in the drivers seat. Pin 5 at the switch goes to pin 46 at the 73b connector. Pin 6 at the switch goes to pin 44 at connector 73b. Pins 2 and 4 at the switch need to be bridged together with one wire then going to pin 45 at the 73b connector and one wire going to the 94 pin ecm connector pin 65. There are 2 connectors at the ecm, the 94 pin connector is the big one. After installing the wires J519 coding needs to be changed and the ecm needs to be activated for cruise. The fourth bit in the J519 coding goes from 18 to 9A and the eighteenth bit goes from 42 to C2. J519 needs to be coded before activating cruise in the ecm or dtcs will be set in the ecm that will prevent the cruise from working until they are erased, trust me on that one. I have access to VAS PC so that is what I used for the coding changes and activating cruise in the ecm.

The wiring diagram for 2012 and 2013 are the same. It should be the same part number for 2012. I might be doing another install in a couple days on my boss's 2011 Jetta S so I might have more info then.

I don't know what diagram you have but the cruise switch is on the end of the turn signal stalk just like a Jetta SE or SEL would have. The part I put on is for a 2013 Jetta S with sunroof which comes from the factory with cruise.

I just installed cruise on my boss's 2011 Jetta S with the same part numbers my 2013 used so it's probably safe to say your 2012 would use the same part numbers.

How do you find out what part number your BCM is? I don't want to buy the parts if it's not even possible to do... but I can't figure out where the BCM is to see if it's even possible.

I did it too! Easy Cruise Control on 2011 Jetta S! For about $125..

Hello All,
I just finished putting cruise control into my sons 2011 Jetta S (2.0L, manual, US model, base, no sunroof). I thought my experience might help others.

First, I do have the -086 Body control module. I bought a -087 off ebay since many threads say that you need it but in my experience it the -086 is fine. I t had all the pin locations and software. If youreally want to have an 087 handy just in case..let me know I have one that works.

Second, In the long coding VWMaster31 spoke of "9A" being coded in bit 4 and a C2 in bit 18. Only the 18th bit (which coincides with a "cruise control" check box was needed in my install. Well that and the ECM (code to "G" i think)..

Third, Verebs1 and VWMaster31 both specified the same wiring connections. I used Verebs1's wiring harness. I have to say that Steve does a nice job making that harness. Looks OEM.

Fourth, I used the VAG COM locator map (found on vwvortex) and then emailed 4 local guys with the software. All four answered quickly and offered to help. Gotta love this VW community!

Fifth, I used a stalk off a bug and the steering wheel removal tutorial (on this site and referenced elsewhere in CC/jetta s discussions).

I only had one issue and that was a piece of debris in one of the plugs that kept a wire from seating. I placed that wire late at night and didnt pay attention. it took me several hours to trouble shoot.. I stress that that was due to my own ignorance. Most difficult part of this was counting and locating the pins. Reading glasses and a forehead mounted LED light might have looked stupid but made the job very easy.

Removing the trouble shooting (my error) and then counting the time to complete and it was only a couple of hours. In fact since i now have experience from troubleshooting...I could probably complete in 45 minutes with harness in hand.

Conclusion: It can be done. It is not expensive. Ask for help and allow extra time if inexperienced.
