Re: Jetta Trunk Light (rbenjami)

other then adding lights or a higher wattage I am not sure.
My decision on a mod to help my night presentation of my amps kinda worked as a nice double edged sword (though finding anything small and dark in color in the trunk does not happen at night)

But to each his own.

Re: Jetta Trunk Light (rbenjami)

This may sound stupid, but I bought an '01 Jetta TDI and bitched about the fact they didn't put a light in the trunk. Do the '01's have one and where is it? I'm feeling pretty stupid about now thinking I didn't have one and I can't go out and look for it until I get off work.

Re: Jetta Trunk Light (jettanjax)

Thanks for the reply. I bought this car used about two months ago and no kidding complained about how dark the trunk was. Mine must not be working but I'll check it out after work tonight. Thanks again..... http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I'd recommend AGAINST putting a higher wattage bulb in the existing socket. The stock bulb gets very hot over time, and I have a suspicion you'd melt the plastic lens if you use something stronger.
Your best bet is to wire an additional light in the trunk or use a power outlet light, as suggested.

Ill tell ya what, that little light is extremely hot. Im amazed it doesnt melt the plastic lense already. I pull the trunk liner back to run my amp wires, and my arm touched the back of the exposed light fixture, and talk about saying every curse word in the book. I would just install another light/fixture

That is a tin sign that I bought. It usually hangs on my wall. I just needed something in the hatch to show the brightness of the lights. I liked it somuch I am thinking about painting a permanent one on the hatch carpet.

Not being an electrical genius, how tough is it to accomplish this little feat? I've got a neon, that I've been just pluggin in whenever I wanted it on, and that's getting pretty lame. Any walkthrough's anywhere?
