My co-worker is looking into getting a Jetta. Question is...should he get the 1.8T?
He may possibly want to modify the car in the future for some HP gains...and we are thinking that the 1.8T is going to have more potential.
Is the 1.8T stock as reliable as the VR6?

it's all about preference.... there are people going fast and making big numbers on both engines...

Your "co-worker" will find a plethora of information on this rotting corpse of a horse when the search function is available again. It's all a matter of preference, as both engines are great. There are more hp gains available with a simple chip upgrade on a 1.8T.

Just depends on what you want. They are both nice cars.
1.8T - can upgrade the turbo and give you some good power
VR6 - great power out the box with a lovely sound
both very nice

yeah definitely come check out our site, just noticed you're in Houston! You'll find that most of the people on the forums are 1.8t guys, but we also have a fair share of v6 guys. Then of course there's also the 2.0 guys like me

I shouldn't be seeing saying this. But I just jumped from VR6 to 1.8t

I will miss the sound of VR6 but boy do I love the turbo engine.
