I'm in Detroit on business the next couple of days, and thought I was lucky by getting a Mazda 6 as my rental. Red, 16 inch alloys, rear spoiler, etc.
Long story short, the ride is nice, but the standard engine is a dog compared to the much maligned 2.5 in terms of smoothness and torque. It's not like the rental has a ton of miles on it (approx 4k). The 4 spd auto is not near as smooth as the 6 spd tiptronic auto in my 2.5. Where it really matters is the interior. Talk about cheap looking plastic!
I made the right choice http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif . I test drove a Mazda 3 prior to purchase, but not a 6.
I guess it could be worse--I could be in a Camry...
