XPOST: Just bought some more driveline goodies!!!! Thought i would share!!!!

Hey all. I just bought some new sh*t and thought i would share. I just picked up a stage IV (clutch, stiffer pp, 7lb flywheel) kit from matrix and also a pulley kit from tracracing (crank, alternater, power steering). What i plan to do is take a base like dyno of my car with tt exhaust only, then do the clutch kit and dyno, then do the pulley kit and dyno. I am interested in seeing how much hp can be gained by weight saving things like flywheel, and pullies. Think about this for a sec....the stock flywheel weighs approx 17lbs the lightened one is 7lbs thats equals a drop of about 10lbs...not bad....then add to that the weight savings of the crank pulley....stock is 7lbs (accroding to tracracing) and the aluminum one is less the 1lb...that a drop of approx 6lbs. The car should be a rev happy beast after this. Just thought i would share with you all.

BTW i am doing all this becasue i am going FI in the spring (matrix stage II) and yes i already have the quaife...its being installed with the clutch kit.

Nice! currious, why not throw in a 3.94 R&P while you're mucking around with the tranny?
BTW.... I edited X-post out of the topic name because technically cross posting is not allowed, but I wanted to leave this open

Check European Car's project M3 flywheel/clutch article...there's a formula you can put your weight figures into.
The 15 or whatever lbs they saved made the car "feel" 200+ lbs lighter.
THAT would be useful for your tests.

I am not going to do the 3.94 R&P because i want longer gears. Keeps the turbo under more of a load. Plus i think the stage II kit will have me spinning all through 1st and 2nd anyway....i dont wanna make it any easier.
Re: XPOST: Just bought some more driveline goodies!!!! Thought i would share!!!! (Bundaho)

hey...very interested in this...I have only lightened flywheel in mine...it was a weight reduction down to like 9-11 pounds I think. I can't seem to remember the weight of it. It is velocity and I weighed it when I bought it...oh well
Anyway I want to know the update on dyno...do you really think it will show up as HP? Usually when people lighten their wheels and brakes and dyno it really doesn't seem to show up.....

I hope to see some type of gain even if it is only 2-3 hp.
Re: XPOST: Just bought some more driveline goodies!!!! Thought i would share!!!! (Bundaho)

isnt 7 lbs kinda too light for a flywheel??
i remember autotech saying something about inertia isnt great enough to move with such a light flywheel.
o yeah y not get a r&p & 5th conver? it would match up nicely

I am not doing the r&p because i dont want shorter gears with a turbo. I dont know if 7lbs is too light. I will tell you after i get it installed.
