I knew that they would, but just to let people with aftermarket chips know, they are going to be flashing your ECU with updates.
There was nothing wrong with my car. I live in Canada, so Canadian vehicles are covered by this recall. Everyone will probably be getting a phone call from their dealership sooner or later (or already). Painless, approximately 1-2 hours. I waited at the dealership. Had a cappucino at Agincourt Autohaus while I used their dial up line to work.

Re: Just came back from 2.0 litre 02 sensor recall servicing... (Distinct)

I got a phone call, not sure what the official procedures are for the United States. Glad I waited, now I can get my Upsolute (I don't foresee VW messing with my ECU anymore). I'm sure a few people will be getting "re" chipped in the near future.

It's called the WA recall. Ask your dealer it they will go ahead and do it.
Be forewarned, THIS RECALL INVOLVES FLASHING (OVERWRITING) YOUR CHIP!!! If you have chipped your car, you may not want to do this recall. (Or maybe your service manager will replace the sensor without flashing, if you "explain your situation".)
This recall begs the question, what's being changed? If you have an aftermarket chip, you may not "need" the recall. I don't think it's a bunch of bad O2 sensors, just that the stock chip was damaging them.

Right. I was chipped by upsolute last summer. When I had it chipped, the checksum on my OEM program did not match the checksum on the 2.0 program that upsolute had. We tried it anyway and it worked.
I'm wondering if there is a difference between the european and north american ECU programs and if upsolute installed a modified european 2.0 program in my car?

my CEL light went off a couple of weeks ago, I was all WTF? Because the car has 5500 miles on it. Anyways, sure enough it was the O2 sensor . . . I hadn't recieved any recall notices, but I was informed about it while I was there . . . mainly because they blamed the recall for not being able to get a new O2 sensor right away. Anyways, it came in on Friday . . . I'm taking it in tommorrow.
Didn't know about the ECU flash, but thanks for informing me. Now I have some questions to ask Tony the service manager.
