.. and I can't drive stick. I suck. Really bad. I can't "get a feel for the engine" or whatever. So I gotta have alot of patience for this? Just really frustrated, looking for some advice, thanks.

Re: Just got a Jetta.. (MrSparkle07)

Watch people that know how and ask them for tips.
I learned from just watching my dad and friends http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Just got a Jetta.. (Nolig23)

my dad would yell at me because i bucked the crap out of his car, when i went with my mom we would just laugh to much....just drive around you neighborhood where there are no hills and just keep practicing. Then once you feel comfortable with that find a hill and stop and go, stop and go until you get the hang of it.

If you can get it movin just go out for a drive for a few hours, you just need the practice. My dad took me out to learn and it didnt go very well, then I went out on my own and got it down. Practice make perfect, gl man. You might wanna begin savin up for a clutch, you prolly need one in a few months if ur learnin on it.

Re: (CT Dub12)

First go buy a new clutch and put it away cause your gonna need one after this

1st you have to get a feel for your clutch before you hit the gas,
after you got that feel and know where your clutch sits at,let it out slowly at the same time give it a pintch of gas its fun once you get the hang of it http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

practice on a little hill where nobody is around

Re: (TRAP STAR)

move sloooooowwwww with the cluch pedal. go to a big, empty lot. If you can get the car moving in 1st without using any gas, you've got the hardest part http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Put it in first, then very slowly let the clutch out(without using the gas pedal), until the pedal is up all the way and the car is rolling. I learned in one day, but even if you don't, just keep trying

Find a nice, big, empty place to practice. It's not hard when you get your basics down, just takes a bit of getting used to. Take your time and don't be hard on yourself. Most of us had trouble learning it too.
Good luck.

10years old and 130k and still holds strong and taught me and me brother stick. Its really easy though. The second week I had it down. Now its second nature and I will drive nothing else but a stick. my mom took me out in a huge parking lot with stop signs every 10 feet. So I had no choice but to learn how to take off quickly. I was fustrated to at first. I cursed the Jetta serveral times but now i love it and wondered why the whole world isnt driving a manual. Just take it around your neighborhood a couple times maybe by yourself if you can so your not nervous about stalling with someelse in the car and it should make a whole lot easier. A tip though, I noticed with my Jettas clutch and this may help you, When you go in 1st let up off the clutch enough till the car starts the roll and gas it slightly and you shouldnt stall out. Works for reverse to. Hopefully my car isnt the only one that does it.
