Some of you who know me, are aware that I drive a Automatic 2.0 good car but when you go from stick to automatic and its nothing compared to a 1.8 its a big http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif I always wanted a turbo but at the time money was tight so I opted for the 2.0 as the past year as progressed I have become more desperate for the 1.8T I finally got a bump at work and am waiting to find out how much more I get paid, I am now most likely going to get out of my 2.0 lease and buy a new wolfsburg. Im pretty excited as you can imagine, I already have a few mods just waiting to go in.
Heres my list so far
What I have
Pedal caps from VW.COM
Chrome grill strips
.:R badge
License plate frames
Light up VW emblem
First mods to be bought for the car, in order
Tint
Velocity CAI
Rieger illuminated shift knob

Chip (Dont know which one yet)
What else am I missing that I should consider?
What brands?
Short shifter
DV
Coilovers

Re: Just got a promotion at work! what to do with my car... (Alienex)

congrats on the raise....wolfsburg is a good choice as i do say so myself. you'll be happy especially going from a 2.0 auto to a 1.8T manny
. Good luck and seems to be a good choice of mods http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif . I have an APR 93 chip http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif in my wolfie and i am very happy with it.

You don't want to wait for the R32 or MKV? I have the same drivetrain as you (2.0+Auto, or as I call it, "The Vortexers' Dream Combo"
), but I want to get something totally fresh. Oh you're leasing...never mind. Congrats on the raise!
2005 VW Sportster (1500lbs. of pure sportiness)

This is what I'm saving up for:

I was thinking should I wait for the R32 but if I was to spend that money id probably opt for a faster car. MKV I was thinking about waiting and I still am, but I have no clue what the jettas are gonna look like and when they are going to be coming to the dealers. I could get MKV later in life anyway. I could re-lease a 1.8T drive that for 2-3 years and hop into MKV. 2.0T sounds really nice. The thing that keeps me from waiting, is I know it will be more expensive then the current cars. Who knows maybe MKV will be awesome looking or just plain UGLY.
im asking myself, Can I wait till september to see the MKV? I dont even think they are going to announce Jettas then only the new golf.

Good points. I don't think it would hurt to wait, though. Don't spend your raise before you get it
. I can imagine you getting the Wolfsburg, then seeing finalized Jetta pics and it drops your jaw like the Passat image above. If you're like me, you'd be scrambling to get out of the lease.
On the other hand, you can't really go wrong getting a mature MK4 1.8T, that hopefully has all the bugs worked out as opposed to a first generation MK5 that may have wheels and doors falling off along with the usual exploding engines.
VWoA: But those are not safety issues so we won't recall it or cover it under warranty. Good luck. Let us know how you're lease thing goes!

You will get raped if you bail out of your lease early - why go into debt for basically the same car. I looked into it in my 02 GTI - let's just say it wouldn't be in my best interest to trade it. Best case I'd only lose $3k if I sold it myself and got absolute top retail dollar (not likely).
No big deal I have a year left on my lease and plan to wait it out - the next generation dubs are all tight as hell and they will be here soon enough.

Congrats on the promotion!

I know you already have the chrome grill strips, but I'd vote for keeping them off the Wolfie.
Have you thought about a new exhaust?
I'm afraid that the MkVs are going to look fugly. I'm saving up for the new S4.

Re: Just got a promotion at work! what to do with my car... (GAIO GTI)

Yeah, I really want out of my auto 2.0 Im over 4000 miles in my lease, a rock hit my windshield there is a dent in my rear bumper. Plus my front right tire is bald so they are gonna jam me for all that, To get out of my lease is gonna cost me alot of money. I know it wouldnt be the best financial move. Im torn and have been for the past year.
