I just got in, its about 12:30am eastern time... TORONTO. I just dropped off my girlfriend, we just came back from "SPY GAME"... awsome movie by the way.
ANYWAYS... i was driving home and all of a sudden a very nice souding car came pulling up beside me, i looked over and it was a 1984 --> ? Honda civic, a real crapper, but sweet sounding... seemed like it had some engine work done.. so i pushed it and he kinda dropped out.... THEN.. from the distance behind me a pair of headlights came from about 1/4 mile to my ass in about 2 seconds. (exagerated)
But fast! It was this guys buddy by the looks of it, and he was in a 1990 Ford Mustang, not sure if it was cobra or not.. but really LOUD! So, it was on....
i drive a 2001 VW Jetta VR6......automatic

so we were neck and neck, and i was in third.. so i put it in D because i was at redline and that was all i could do.... he dropped into 4th and moved ahead.. then he slowed down, i guess cause he knew he won.

So, what did i learn?? 1) I am gonna take over my dad's VR6 as soon as i can
2) Until then, I AM GETTING A CHIP, A SUPERCHARGER,
NOS, and whatever else can assure me that i will not
loose again!!
i am serious about the supercharger though, does that help with power while already at high speeds, or just at the first 150 yards?

first things first, get a stick
. That'll help out a bit. Second, don't hold your breath on a specific S/C kit, I'm not naming any names (Z-Engineering oops
) but they keep delaying their product. Lastly, a VR6 will need quite a bit invested in it in order to hand with a Mustang V8. I hate to say it, ubt they kill us in cubes and power. Take them through some corners? No chance for the Mustang.

No way unless you drop 100k in the engin would you win

I have a CBR1100XX Motorcycle and those Rice Rockets think they can take a motorcycle. It's just not happening ! I won 100 bucks once from a kid who wanted to race for PINKS ! I was no thanks but I'll take your money, he said he had 35k into the engine and well , I'm 100 richer. Same with the Vdub vs a Mustang, not happening. Too much hp !

what about the Neuspeed Supercharger? is it any good? what will it do for me?
Re: just got back from the streets, not too happy! (cdpxxx)

Your Auto Tranny probably wont hold up more than 250hp..

The NS S/C will bring you up to about 130-135 hp at the wheels. You're probably wondering why the HP deacreases? The S/C is for the 2.0
. They don't make one for the VR6.

heh... i've got less than half of what billy has invested in his engine... i'm naturally aspirated, an automatic, and 400lbs heavier if not more... but my mildly built naturally aspirated automatic 5.0 mustang would easily hang with billy's car street or track. I'm also stock cammed... 150 bucks for a custom grind and 40 more hp and he'd be easy to take
and yes... i'm trading an easy mid 12 second mustang for a dub... cause speed and power isnt everything.
Oh and dont think any of you would take me in the turns either.. cause this ones built for the track

anyways... the point was when it comes to modified mustangs, even cars like the HPA bi-turbo V6 cars dont stand a chance. Bone stock mustangs can run easy low 12's with a low boost bolt on charger, or a small shot of nitrous. Add even a remotely mild built engine like mine that will run 12's N/A and you've got an easy low 11 high 10 second daily driver for cheap.

blah..
hey I got this friend named john force... and his car will whip ALL your asses!

With 10-15K i could build a rabbit or A2 GTI that would school just about any mustang that comes across its path, that includes the cost of buying the car and making it look good. It wouldn't be a 1/4 mile car cause of traction but it would be a highway demon. I don't even wanna get started on the Aircooled bugs. Anways ain't trying to start something just spitting stuff out.
Oh yeah, and i have a answer to john force...his name is Dahlback(www.audituning.com). He created a 2000lb, 1000+HP, 6 Speed, Quattro Racing AWD Golf IV. His car ain't no joke, HPA's car pales in comparison to his beast. He also created a 625HP Audi RS4, now thats a wagon for ya

Yea, but BillyT has 1.8t which is easier to mod than VR6, I mean more options to mod.

I may be able to shed some light for you my friend as I have a Jetta VR6 Automatic as well..Ok first off, dont sell the car just get to manual! I had once considered that but then I thought on the loses id be getting and the fact that it was just gonna be a transmission so I said forget that..I mean if you have that kind of money ( I know I dont) Then I guess I would go for it..I know that driving a manual is insane fun compared to an auto..but with all do respect, I think the wisest decision would be to keep what ya got, do what ya can with it, have fun with it and next car make sure its a 6-speed
As far as those mustangs..Dani is right (Except im not sure on her clain about the V6 Bi-Turbo
) ..They own the streets..I got whooped bad by an old mustang GT off the line at a red light..it was crazy..Pretty much your gonna wanna stay away from the F-Body cars (Trans am, camaro, Mustang, Firebird) ..they are too fast for a mk4..even S/Ced mk3 vr6s will have trouble keeping up with them...Your target is gonna be HONDAS!

I dont know if the 2001 automatics have this feature but i know my 2000 auto does..There is a way that you can put your car in overdrive while in drive..by pressing the gas pedal a certain way you can make the gas pedal depress in more..what happens is your driving normal right and then if you decide you want to floor it, you can press the gas pedal in and you will feel your foot sort of click in..and your rpms will shoot up..its hard to explain but im sure some of the vortexters here with automatic know what im talking about..
Now as far as modding goes..First get a CAI (AEM or EVO MS), a GIAC Chip, and a catback exhaust..youll notice the difference with the GIAC chip..If you want more power look into getting a set of DSR 256 or 264 Cams..combined with the Giac youll be at [email protected] wheels..I would really like a S/C or a Turbo with low boost for my car..but honestly i dont think the tranny would hold up well..You would have to see a tranny specialist to be able to upgrade the tranny to hold up that kind of power..instead just get Nitrous..75 Shot wet..Hook it up right and use it wisely and your car will be ok...then do some weight reduction (take out rear seats, spare, but some race seats in) Youll run low 14s..Thats what im hoping for at least..which is considerably fast for a jetta
Hope this helps..if you have any other questions just IM me
