Ding Ding Ding.. Keith emerges as the victor after round one. Try as it might, the Corrado is now down several rattles.
hehehe...
I had no idea how bad the freakin doors rattle on this car until I replaced those stupid pins for the latch mechanism... Best $14 I've spent on my car in a LONG time.
Part #4 is what you want.
$5.87 each at VWParts.com
Now the only thing that still rattles is my sunroof, and I suspect that if I drop the headliner and tighten up a few bolts, I'll take care of that too...
TAKE THAT CORRADO!
Todd, yep the thing-a-ma-bob attached to the door jam. It was causing a rattle because the white nylon surround on it was gone on the passenger side and just about gone on my drivers door. When that piece is gone, there's nothing on the pin to take up the slack in the door latch. Since the doors are so heavy they would move about and rattle. Note: My passenger side door was EXTREMELY bad. You would have to slam the ever living crap out of it to keep it closed.
Also, the piece they screw into is moveable, so when I re-attached them, i placed them further inward by about 1mm which also holds the door tighter to the car.
Honest, I'm not making this up, I swear!
after solving that problem, tell me how to stop the damn belts from rattling
the noise comes from the shoulder belt at the door [yes, the annoying electric ones] when it is in the retracted and locked position. can't be a wear issue because my g60 has only 33k on it. this is the only real rattle in the car...
Re: Keith vs. Corrado Rattles Round 1 (VRSIX POWER)
hey, i got one for you...and i'm sure you have this rattle:
find a way to stop the rattle that comes from the left most vent (defroster) in the dash. it happens to every stinkin C i've ever been in!
some dude on the corrado list was gonna squirt foam insulation up into the dash...lol
If the rattle sounds like it's coming from the dash area where it meets the window, near the driver's side front tweeter grill, then the rattle can be fixed by tightening a nut accessible from under the hood.
Open the hood, and reach underneath the wiper mechanism to find a 10mm nut, mounted on a bolt extending DOWN from the top. It's very very hard to reach and/or see, but with a couple of socket extensions and a couple of swivels, or creative use of a wrench, you should be able to tighten the bolt down to eliminate the squeek. Mine had gotten so bad that I would drive with one hand on the dash! I acutally put a lockwasher on the stud, tightened everything down, and haven't heard the squeek in over a year.
Good luck!
Keith!! Don't ever order from vwparts.com They screwed me so hard on my crank pulley!!! They won't even give any refund even though they sent the incorrect part. This is not the first time they've screwed someone over either...stay away...very far away!

I've never had any problems with them and I've ordered from them several times. They even gave me a discount on my door pins when I notified them of two different prices for the same throttle body gasket.
