well i go to the beige harness under the steering wheel. when i found the clear wire (antenna) it was spliced with a black wire about 2 inches up the wire
. i dont want to splice anything yet because in the DIY there was no info about this black wire. if i splice should i splice above where they are connected or should i just disregard the black wire and splice below where they join.
pics (clear wire is labeled in red and black is labeled in black.

bump...do u think it would be okay to cut above the splice?
or should i cut right below (clear wire) and then add my antenna cable.

Hi, I wrote that DIY guide. Just cut below the splice and you should be fine.

k cool...does that black wire just become worthless or something...just curious

I never found out what it's for, but I didn't want to screw around so I left it alone.

Re: key fob extension diy problem (will665)

Its hard to tell from your picture, but I'd guess the antenna wire is coaxial to the splice, and the black wire is shield ground.

just finished this mod. when i cut off the antenna that runs thru the pillars i put electrical tape at the end. do u think i should keep it without the tape or with. (does it have an effect on signal strength) otherwise this mod is sweet http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
