[1988SCIROCCO16VW]

i got this scirocco 16v in great shape with 106,000 i may add for $200. i swaped over alot parts off my wrecked 87 before i took it to get the t belt, d belts. seals and a new mount done. the motor has a pinging sound during acceleration like valve knock from low octane fuel. the mechanic told me that it was a tooth out of time, but it idles sweet with no noise and seems to accelerate fine other than the ping. i also did some more investigating under the hood and the knock sensor where it bolts to the block has a crack in it like it was over tightened. could this be a bent valve. the knock sensor???????????? i fooled around with the timing a little bit but it didn't change anything.

Try torqueing the knock sensor to 15 ft-lbs, it important, a 16v with one tooth off runs like a bag...
