I got cloth because I am frequently hauling boxes and woodworking materials in my car and didnt want to risk tearing the more expensive leather, just something to concider if you move stuff frequently

Clooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth!

I rode in both, and cloth definately felt more comfy and it kept me in place better. I thought that was pretty good considering it cost less =p.

I pick cloth over leather even if I had to pay more for cloth. Leather is too slippery especially for those sharp corning turns. Extremely hot in the summer, freezing cold in the winter...no thanks.

leather is the sheat..... it looks so much classier than cloth
definitaly get leather with heated seats and you get to use this pick up line in the winter to make girls laugh
"You know, I have heated leather seats

Re: Leather Or Cloth? (Strider Turbo)

i dunno what cloth i have exactly, but whatever it is, its really really nice (its the one that is a weave of black and charcoal in the middle, and normal cloth on the outside)
it holds pretty decent for a stock seat http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Leather Or Cloth? (eclepticmind)

well it all depends on what car your getting!! if your gettina GTI id say cloth with out a doubt! on the GTI's leather is free...at least i could have gotten it for free, but the cloth in GLX models is like stiched cloth, its not velour, and yes velour is crap, butif your gettin a higher end car the cloth is way nicer, ihave a vr6 gti so the cloth is awesome, especailly the black, cause its 1/2 gray half black and the seams are thick tread it looks sooo sweet, and also cloth is always perfect temp not too hot not too cold. leather always seems to be at an extreme specailly when you get in the car...its either freezing cold or blistering hot, so id say cloth

Re: Leather Or Cloth? (KEITH)

big up to keith!!! i could not agree more....VW leather just doesnt feel right....oh wait i never thought leather felt right in cars, its not just VW. leather is meant for making kinky sex whips not seats
opps did i just say that? oh well its true

sport cloth, only down side is its only availible in GLS GLX and GLI models so its gonna cost ya but its well worth it...just sit in a car with it and youll never go back ot leather or velour!

I have black leather and love it. All I do is put some leather conditioner from time to time and its great.

Yeah, what he said. Plus, when I f4rt any leakage is easily wiped up.

I've had both the sport cloth and the leather, and it's leather all the way for my backside these days. True, we're not talking Lexus Coach leather quality here, but VW seems to be working on it (leather in my '03 GLI is of better quality than that in my '97 GTI VR6). A word about butt slippage - if you've got the new sport seats, you should stay firmly planted through the curves as the bolsters are pretty substantial (again, when I compare the GLI to the '97 VR6). Go leather all the way. . .
