This is the install of the deAutoKey.com Bright Reverse Lights & Complete Tail/Turn Kits for the new Passat B7 with 921 Tail & Reverse - 7440 Turn/Brake Light Bulbs.

Make sure you turn OFF the lights using the Switch before starting.

Only tool needed for this project is the screw driver that came with the car located in the tire change kit in the spare tire well.

Locate the Access Panels on the inside of the Trunk.

Remover The covers.

Using the screw driver gently pry the red lock back then drapes the tab and disconnect the plug

Using the screw driver gently pry the cover from the side of the light

Then unscrew the plastic tiedown form the back of the housing.

now just push the light up and off the car.

Remove the bulb holder rom the housing and them remove the old bulbs.

Install the LEDs into the holder then plug them back into the car and turn on the lights to verify they are working. **if they do not light up turn the lights back off then rotate the LED 180º then check again**

Once you verify the lights work unplug the lights and put the bulb holder back into the housing. Then re-install in reverse order.

Now for the Tail/Brake/Turn Bulb

Remover the panel from the trunk liner.

Unplug the light the same way as before.

Unscrew the housing from the car using this screw by hand.

Push the housing straight out and off the car.

Locate the Bulb then rotate 1/8 turn and pull the bulb out.

This bulb can only go in one way so make sure you alight the metal prongs on the bulb with the bulb holder.

Then put the housing back on the car in reverse order.

Be sure to watch the peg and rubber to make sure they are properly lined up before re installing the hold screw.

Wrong

Right

That is how to replace the bulbs in a 2016 Passat SE 'NSW' here are some videos to compare the difference between the Incandescent Bulbs and the LED bulbs.

JUST installed them this morning on my 2017.

HUGE thank you for the DIY!!!

I'll have to check them later tonight to see how brightness compares. During the day it seems a little bit brighter at least (side/side in daylight).

Thank you again DeAuto!

Just as an update, contrast is MUCH improved and the rear lights are much more visible!

This morning the car alerted me that the left rear bulb was out. I reseated the LED sand it started working again.

We really appreciate your honest feedback - you can bed out the metal prongs a bit for a better connection or bend the prongs of the car's adapter before inserting the bulb. That will create a vice that holds the bulb more securely.

Listing reference as it might've been lost in these replies:

But yes these are a lore more intense, brighter and safer:
