I am thinking about getting a A4, does anyone know how many miles you can get out of the 1.8T if you are diligent about maintence and oil changes and are there any bugs to look out for in the 97 model?

Most people say that with good maintinence and good oil (synthetic) you can get a very long life out of the 1.8T.
I know some people that have over 100,000 miles already.

No real big issues, mines been pretty much trouble free and has 83,000 miles now. Biggest thing is the timing belt tensioner. They seem to break inbetween 60-75k miles. If this breaks expect the repair to cost from 2,000-3,000 dollars, do yourself the favor and replace it if you get the car and it's in that mielage bracket.

Im at 119K km right now. Crossing my fingers until I get the timing belt done sometime next week.
