alrite, pop quiz hot shots. you have a stock 91 16v GLi and $1,000. what do you do?
what mods would you do.. (engine wise).

Don't spend it on the engine.
Buy a set of sway bars (anti-roll bars) by Neuspeed or Eibach and a full set of polyurethane bushes.
You will not be disappointed, trust me.

id start with an intake system, maybe a k&n cone filter, ractive has some nice intakes as well, then some cams, adjustable gears, and plugs and 8mm wires!!!
that wouldbe a good start!!

TT matched 16v camset, valve springs, new valve retainers, stem seals.

not to sound like a smartazz, but it's gonna be pretty darn tough to fit a ractive intake to a 16V, unless you like to torture yourself with fabrication. you'd be better off to swiss cheese that airbox. as per the other suggestions, i agree. drop that sucker to the ground and get some sticky tires.

make sure your car is in mechanically sound condition... then i would upgrade the suspension if anything
