Hey
I'm getting my windows tinted in a week, and the place I'm thinking about having it done uses Llumar tint exclusively. Is this a comparable product to 3M? Should I go this route? I want something high quality for my baby.
Also, is there a product anyone would recommend to eliminate that haze that forms on the front and rear glass from the plastics used in the interior. I did a search, but didn't find much in the way of help. Plain old glass cleaner isn't working as well as I would like. Any help is appreciated!!!

Re: Llumar tint and windshield haze (Al Fresco)

Llumar is one of the good ones. There name is all over these boards, if you do a search
... many happy customers. The film is only part of it though. Make sure you are comfortable with the installer. Not so much the company, but the actual guy doing it... it's all in his hands... and a bit of an art form.
As far as the window haze... There is an interior window cleaner by STP (remember the commercial with Richard Petty?) that is made to remove the haze from plastic degassing. I've used a sample once, and it was amazing.
But remember!!!! DON'T use anything but a soft cotton cloth, and water on your tint. NO CHEMICALS!!!!
You wanna talk about haze... oiy

The haze will go away after a while on its own.
I clean the inside of my front/rear window with a terry cloth and plain water.
I definitely would recommend the Llumar tint... I am one happy customer!
Just remember not to roll down the windows for a while...

Re: Llumar tint and windshield haze (passaturge)

Both my cars have Llumar tint installed in them (88 Mazda MX6 and 94 Toyota Extracab 4x4), and it has been a great product. 19 months in both cars, and not a single complaint.
I plan to have the film installed in my Passat, once the dock workers let it go. I agree that the installer has alot more to do with it than the film. I suspect that any quality film, properly and artfully installed, will do a great job for you.

I wan't refering to the post install haze, but that using cleaners will cause it to haze (oxidize) in the long run. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I got Llumar for my 2002 Colorado B5 - all the way around - and it looks awesome. Second car I had with this product. It is first class and made by a very innovative European company (Courtalds). Never a problem.

I hate that window haze from the plastic outgassing. You've probably already discovered that Windex doesn't do the job.
Here's a routine that works well for me when I am cleaning the inside of the windows:
1) I use a clean, wet (no soap) chamois cloth (it's an old one that's too worn for the exterior) and wipe down the entire glass area, turning the cloth frequently. This will get a surprising amount of the haze off the glass. In an emergency, you could stop right here and still see much better than when you started.
2) The second step is one of the professional glass cleaners you see in Pep Boys. I usually use the spray can, but it also come in the spritzer bottles. I use lots of paper towels to keep from re-contaminating the clean areas. Can't remember the brand, but the label will tell you that it's made to get rid of the haze.
I disagree that the outgassing ever actually stops. It slows down as the car ages, but it never fully stops. Plus, the more you expose the car interior to direct sunlight, the worse it gets. I have a ten year old car that still gases up the windows on sunny days.
