Locating a particular car???

1674 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  VeeDubDriver
I'm looking for a Sliver Jetta GLS TDi Wagon, 5-speed.
I'm willing to wait for the 90-120 day 'order process', but would rather not, since it usually takes longer than that. How do I find out if my particular car is hiding in some dealer's lot?

Your dealer can do a search for the vehicle you want. If he can't or won't, I suggest finding one who will.

I have 2 coming in next month... I will check the options.

I'm going through the Costco Autobuying service, which uses a local dealer (For me, it's Fairfax VW).
Is it a big deal to locate a car somwhere else, and have it brought to the local dealer?
b.t.w, prefered options are as follows.
Silver GLS TDi Wagon 5-speed.
No alloys
No leather.
No sunroof.
No monsoon.
I'm picky. I know.

Buy from Stohlmans... they have a better inventory and will probably be able to get it for you quicker.... ask to do a dealer trade 5-7 days.... The market is sooft... so they should do it for you

I had done an inventory search troughout most of the Central-Eastern United States, and was unable to find a single Stick-Tdi-Wagon.
I ordered it on Friday. They claim 1-2 month wait, which is expected. Managed a price that was about $100 under Edmunds TMV. Not bad for a specifically ordered car, considering TMV is what people are paying for cars they find sitting out on the lot.

We already sold both of ours, and they haven't hit the lot yet!

TDI's are in very high demand, ever since the spike in gas prices last year.
