locking gas door swap

how hard is it to put the locking gas door mechanism in? and where is it?

It's on the right side of your hatch / trunk, behind the carpeting. After you pull the carpeting you will see an area with an indent about three inches by one on the edge of the metal. It will have a couple of holes in it for fasteners/screws. The locking mechanism goes there.
Get a Bentley, it has all the information about removing and installing it.

Way easy. You buy the gizmo from the stealership (or you can get a kit from one of the VW parts dudes here on the board, I forget which one), the part comes with its mounting screws, you slide it into the mounting (while poking the rod through the rubber thingy the door stops against), connect up the tubing (I used aquarium tubing) to the T connector behind the back seat (behind your kidney) under the carpet. The T connector has one part of it melted off, so use an exacto knife to CAREFULLY carve the melted part off (don't snip it with wire cutters like I did. It shatters like a cheap Tic-Tacs box). Plug in the tubing, mebbe use a little epoxy to seal it, and you're done.

i searched through potterman's site and couldnt find it, i need to pick one up! any other places besides the stealership???
