I am in the process of selling my car and buying a newer, nicer, faster one. I have been looking into A2 GTI VR6's and corrado's. I found this really nice g60 about 2 hours away from my house and i was wondering what you guys thought of it. Also if his price is reasonable. Its a 5 speed, green, grey heated seats, 2nd owner, 185,000km (about 120miles) super clean car. He says it has been babied and well looked after (it looks it) He works at a VW dealership.
here are the mods:
1. Euro lights wattage 80/100
2. VR6 fog lights and clear turn signals
3. New FK coil over suspension (lifetime warranty) June 01
4. New Lenso 17” rims January 01 includes fifth rim
5. New 17” 205/40/17 ZR Yokohama Parada tyres January 01
6. Scorpion stainless steel exhaust system (lifetime warranty) November 98
7. HSM motor sports stage one chip
8. K+N cone filter induction kit
9. ABD front strut tower bar.
10. Kamei eyebrow spoiler
11. Euro VR6 chin spoiler (90mm)
12. Cross-drilled Brembro rotors all round June 99
13. Pagid pads all round June 99
14. Tinted windows
15. Audi side repeaters
16. Alpine alarm with proximity sensor October 99
17. VR6 front grill
18. Mcguard wheel locks
19. VR6 still guards
20. Sparco pedals
21. New power steering rack September 98
22. Brand new green paint with shaved rear end April 01
What would you pay for it? He is asking 12,500cdn (7,800us). It is a real nice looking car. How much hp would it be with these mods?
Thanks
Travis

Re: Looking at buying a C, what do you think of this one? (Groundsquirrel)

Doesnt say anthing about a smaller pulley, just a chip and filter so maybe 10-15hp over stock..the price is a little high for that mileage unless the engine and/ or supercharger have been rebuilt. If everything else is mint i would offer in the 5k range..If alot of parts have been replaced, water pump, altenator, starter, clutch etc....then it would be worth more

well that car certainly sounds great, but is there leather? the cloth g60 seats don't do it for me...
max i would pay for a car like that would be around 10k cdn. that's kinda high mileage, but it sounds like a winner.
find out when that charger was last touched. tick, tick tick

I don't really care about how much hp it produces cause i think in the future i will turbocharge it. According to him the supercharger has never been rebuild. He just says it has alway has had synthetic oil and changed regularly. I has done quite a bit of work to it and it doesn't seem to have any problems that i know of. The interior has the cloth seats unfortunally, but they are mint. They would be replaced with racing seats or black leathers. I think i would pay 11,000-11,500, but he seems pretty firm on his price. what do you think?

Hey Trav, So your looking to buy the C that beat me at the cadboro show eh? It's sounds good but I bet that charger is just waiting to blow. Give me a call next time you go and take a look at it. I won't like to come along.

If the charger hasn't been rebuilt yet it WILL fail soon. Mine had 140k on the original charger and it started blowing oil at 141k right after I bought it.

My only advice to you is if you like it and there is good documentation for engine repairs then go for it. Maybe low ball the guy first and take it from there.
You also don't mention if everything works. Does the sunroof slide and tilt? Does the spoiler work? Do both seat heaters work? Do the mirrors work(heat and power)? Also, make sure you check to see if the passenger side window goes all the way up!
I got mine for $3300 US with 140,000 miles. It needed body work (still does
) and a little TLC and I knew the charger wasn't going to last, but I wanted it so I made the offer. He was asking $3500. My interior is MINT and all the electronics work, not to mention I think I've got the only G60 that has heated seats and ABS.

I think i might stay away from this one unless he brings his price down. I would buy it for 10,000-11,000 cdn. But the whole untouched supercharger thing scares me.
How much does it cost to rebuild a supercharger? Whats this stage 4 charger i hear of?

I am pretty sure the charger will fail soon too if he has not done anything to it.
Rebuilding it is not even worthwhile based on the fact that u just dropped 8g on the car. Most of the mods he has done are cosmetic that clearly made u drool and think about the car all day. Those mods are in fact relatively cheap and doesn't make the car go faster.
Well you are only 20 years old, first few cars of your life and I have been there before
When i was 20, I made a mistake on paying too much for a beautiful cosmetic Passat with 150k and engine went poop a few months later. Blinded by looks. And since it has a new paint, u might want to check the frame of the car from below, might have accidents before.

Supercharger rebuilds cost anywhere from $700 and up usually, for a ball-park figure. It really depends on how bad your charger is. Sometimes they get bad enough that they won't be rebuildable.
The "stage 4" thing you are hearing about isn't in reference to the charger. It is in reference to a "kit" from someone like Bahn Brenner (www.bahnbrenner.com). These kits are pretty common, and are a great way to get hp for your $.
The stage IV kit consists of:
1) a smaller charger pulley (spins the charger faster, thus creating more boost)
2) an ISV reroute (reduces boost leakage if your ISV leaks, as most do)
3) a new chip to handle engine management
4) a higher pressure fpr (fuel pressure regulator)
5) a camshaft ground for top-end power'
6) a low temp fan switch and thermostat
There are also stage II and stage III kits out there that are basically reduced versions of the stg IV kit.
