Re: Looking for a pic of a GTI vr6 with stock rims with the VW eibach springs... (2kjettaguy)

This is what mine looked like in the front not too long after I had them put on.
They have settled since then and are a bit lower but this is pretty close.
Check sig for one or two more.

THnaks for the pic. Looks good I might decide to do that also. Yea Evan I really would like to see your ride. With all the VW here at JMU we should have a Gtg before the end of the year.

FYI, the VW VOTEX springs (made by Eibach) are not intended for use on the VR6. They were originally designed for the 2.0 and can be used on the 1.8.

If had a nickle for everytime some mis-guided Vortxer said that I would be rich.
The part number for the VR6 application is....
99+ VR6 - 1J0-071-679 - $240.00
Do some research before you "FYI" someone.

FYI, there IS a VR6 part number for the springs, in addition to the 4 cylinder part number.

Just a note for the few that jumped on ACKTung for mentioning they were only for the 2.0 and 1.8T...
They were never listed as being available for the VR6 until the newest DriverGear came out. I thought they were only available for the 2.0/1.8T as well. His information was correct, just not up-to-date. Sheesh.

It may have sounded a little harsh... but it seems these days everyone is an expert without any FACTS to back them up. If your not sure about something say it... otherwise check your info before posting.
BTW, They have been available and listed (maybe not in Driver's Gear... I didn't know this was the VW parts bible) since I got my GTI in 2000.

Re: Looking for a pic of a GTI vr6 with stock rims with the VW eibach springs... (Satchriani)

quote:

So what's the cost of these? And the installation cost? Can you use them with the stock shocks/struts?

I beleive they are $240 USD in driver gear..I was quoted $425 to install them @ my VW dealer, but it was only $350 from a local shop. As for use with the factory shocks/struts, I beleive you can but it will "supposedly" wear them out more quickly than normal wear and tear. I've seen varied opinions on that last issue. I plan on installing them with my factory shocks /struts once the spring gets here.

Ooo...i dunno if that's a normal price, but that's a little steep for me right now. I'll get the springs, and have my uncle put em on! He's got a rolls royce/bently repair/dealership in santa monica! Why didn't i think of that before???
