Stevens Point is 2hr north of Madison WI.
Both Courtesy and Dubwerks are fine. Been to both.
Dubwerks is more or less a one man show so you prolly need to wait for weeks. Courtesy is a two man show so it doesn't make it easier too.
Check out Alpine in Milwaukee too.

Just bring the car and the engine over to my garage and I'll see what I can do
Just need to get my brothers 4k quattro back together and my dad's '62 Bug ice racer project out of the way.

speed is definitely right! 4000 for labor at courtesy, and that doesnt include the engine. Dubwerks quoted me something in the 1500 dollar range! I think If I do anything I am going to do it myself!

That very much depends on what car you have for your donor car.I have peiced all the stuff togher and done the conversion, but its tuff.$1500 is cheap, but there are three things to getting a swap done.
1:cheap
2
one right
3
one fast
In the best scenerio you can have two of these. That said call S+L in mineapolis(especially if you don't have a motor yet).

The way you have to figure it is that most likely this project will tie up an entire service bay for at least a week. Then there are all the misc parts that you didn't think of to make everything run right and fit properly. These parts always add up, and usually have to be ordered tieing up the bay for even longer.
I put a $50 2.0 short block into my 85 Cabriolet, which ended up costing me at least $500 more in misc bolts, gaskets, new flanges for this or that, etc. It sat on jack stands in my garage for about 6 weeks waiting for parts to be ordered as I found out they were needed.
Just food for thought...

Re: Looking for someone to do a vr6 swap in wisconsin area! (brendo)

I've seen a lot a shops mentioned on the vortex and from my own personal research that charge between $6-8000 for a vr6 swap, like futrell, adrenalin,momentum....this is usually with motor,susp.,etc.,but all stock,no mods. And these guys are doing swaps on regular basis, so they know how much it really costs.
Brendans right, swaps take time and money, always more than you expect. You have to remember, you're in WI not on the coasts. Nobody is really doing a lot of big swaps here, and the people who are,are doing them on their own.
Good luck

dubwerks knows there stuff, and Rich is the owner but it is by no means a one man shop. he has PT people come in and work also. the most important thing in researching this is that ITS DONE RIGHT!!!! Rich and Kaite are the only two people i trust to touch my car

Well, I found some local help for an engine swap. I plan on hopefully doing most of the work myself, and using these guys as back up! My next problem is locating a Donor car! I want the engine still in the car, and everywhere I have gone guts the cars right away! So if anyone knows of a place in Wisconsin that has a vr6 sitting in a Glx or a Gti let me know!
thanks-
Joe
